{"id":1858,"date":"2023-03-01T14:00:39","date_gmt":"2023-03-01T13:00:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ecotechceram.com\/portfolio-items\/feasibility-study-3\/"},"modified":"2024-07-17T11:10:07","modified_gmt":"2024-07-17T09:10:07","slug":"feasibility-study-3","status":"publish","type":"avada_portfolio","link":"https:\/\/ecotechceram.com\/en\/portfolio-items\/feasibility-study-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Waste heat recovery and energy optimization"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"fusion-button-wrapper\"><style type=\"text\/css\">.fusion-button.button-1 {border-radius:0px;}<\/style><a class=\"fusion-button button-flat fusion-button-default-size button-default button-1 fusion-button-default-span fusion-button-default-type\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/ecotechceram.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Data-sheet-VB-heat-exchanger-web.pdf\"><i class=\"fa-file-download fas button-icon-left\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i><span class=\"fusion-button-text\">Download the data sheet<\/span><\/a><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"fusion-video fusion-youtube\" style=\"max-width:600px;max-height:360px;\"><div class=\"video-shortcode\"><iframe title=\"YouTube video player 1\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/mp_ba_5d-wA?wmode=transparent&autoplay=0\" width=\"600\" height=\"360\" allowfullscreen allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Decarbonization of the dryer section alone<\/strong>: 723 tonnes of CO2 saved, based on an emission rate of 0.241 kgCO2\/kWh consumed and 0.0339 kgCO2\/kWh produced.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Energy savings on dryer section alone<\/strong>: 3000 MWh saved per year, i.e. 10%.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Location<\/strong>: Valence d&#8217;Agen &#8211; Tarn et Garonne (82) &#8211; Occitanie &#8211; France<\/p>\n<p><strong>Client<\/strong>: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.villeroy-boch.fr\/\">Villeroy &amp; Boch<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Sector<\/strong> : Ceramics<\/p>\n<p><strong>The feasibility study carried out for this client aims to study:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The energy recovery paths identified with regard to the site&#8217;s facilities;<\/li>\n<li>The solutions identified by Eco-Tech Ceram in order to optimize the energy efficiency of the various installations studied.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This study focused on the renovation of the plant&#8217;s dryers, the recovery of waste heat from the compressors and the insulation of the slurry and enameling tanks.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Project issues:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Analyze available sources of waste heat, energy requirements and optimize the energy efficiency of the equipment listed above.<br \/>\nAs a result of this characterization, Eco-Tech Ceram looked for the most appropriate solutions to meet the energy requirements and\/or <a href=\"https:\/\/ecotechceram.com\/en\/industrial-thermal\/\">improve the energy efficiency<\/a> of the workstations studied.<br \/>\nEach of the solutions was presented to the client via a complete report respecting <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ademe.fr\/\">Ademe<\/a> &#8216;s specifications on the feasibility studies.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eco-Tech Ceram achievements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Each waste heat recovery solution has been studied in such a way:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Study of the customer&#8217;s compressor station, optimization of its operating points<\/li>\n<li>Sizing of a 2m3 storage tank<\/li>\n<li>Hydraulic study upstream of the balloon to send the cooling water from the various compressors<\/li>\n<li>Aeraulic and thermal study downstream of the balloon: water network integrating three unit heaters (heating of premises) and three exchangers (hybridization of boilers). Total power exchanged = 200kW.<\/li>\n<li>Solution design<\/li>\n<li>Energy and environmental balance<\/li>\n<li>Costing of the solution<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/ecotechceram.com\/en\/financing-engineering\/\">Economic study of the solution and financial arrangement<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Each energy optimization solution has been studied in such a way as to :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Study of dryers in detail and research of heat losses<\/li>\n<li>Repair of insulation, defective parts and thermal bridges<\/li>\n<li>Approach to possible savings, comparison to conventional ceramic drying<\/li>\n<li>Calculation of the solution for each dryer<\/li>\n<li>Economic study of the solution and financial arrangement<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Description of the proposed solution:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Interdependent heat recovery and energy optimization projects on the production process (baking + drying): replacement of the 11 aging dryers by 5 new, more efficient dryers powered by waste heat from the tunnel kiln.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-10197\"
