{"id":4302,"date":"2023-03-01T13:42:21","date_gmt":"2023-03-01T12:42:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ecotechceram.com\/portfolio-items\/metallurgy-study-of-the-implementation-of-a-waste-heat-recovery-system-or-energy-efficiency-improvement-systems\/"},"modified":"2024-06-25T10:35:46","modified_gmt":"2024-06-25T08:35:46","slug":"metallurgy-study-of-the-implementation-of-a-waste-heat-recovery-system-or-energy-efficiency-improvement-systems","status":"publish","type":"avada_portfolio","link":"https:\/\/ecotechceram.com\/en\/portfolio-items\/metallurgy-study-of-the-implementation-of-a-waste-heat-recovery-system-or-energy-efficiency-improvement-systems\/","title":{"rendered":"Improving energy efficiency in a foundry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Decarbonization<\/strong> <strong>:<\/strong> 17 tonnes of CO2 saved, based on an emission rate of 0.201 kgCO2\/kWh consumed<\/p>\n<p><strong>Energy savings<\/strong> <strong>:<\/strong> 87 MWh per year<\/p>\n<p>Your <strong>area<\/strong> <strong>:<\/strong> Haute-Marne (52) &#8211; region Grand Est<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sector<\/strong> <strong>:<\/strong> Metallurgy<\/p>\n<p><strong>Client&#8217;s needs &#8211; requests<\/strong> <strong>:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The feasibility study carried out for the foundry site concerns the energy optimization of the different areas of the company, namely<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Savelli area<\/li>\n<li>The Epoxy Chain<\/li>\n<li>The paint line<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Various solutions specific to each of these areas have been devised.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Project issues:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Analyze the available waste heat deposits, energy needs and equipment efficiency improvements specific to each of the study areas.<br \/>\nAs a result of this characterization, <a href=\"https:\/\/ecotechceram.com\/\">Eco-Tech Ceram<\/a> looked for the most appropriate solutions to meet the energy requirements and\/or improve the energy efficiency of the workstations studied.<br \/>\nEach of the solutions was presented to the client via a complete report respecting the specifications of the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ademe.fr\/\">ADEME<\/a> on feasibility studies.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eco-Tech Ceram achievements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Each waste heat recovery solution has been studied in such a way:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Study of the principle diagram<\/li>\n<li>Sizing of equipment<\/li>\n<li>Thermal study of the solution<\/li>\n<li>Aeraulic study of the solution<\/li>\n<li>Solution design<\/li>\n<li>Energy and environmental balance<\/li>\n<li>Costing of the solution<\/li>\n<li>Economic study of the solution and financial arrangement<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Each energy efficiency improvement solution has been studied in such a way:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Study of equipment modifications<\/li>\n<li>Solution design<\/li>\n<li>Energy and environmental balance<\/li>\n<li>Costing of the solution<\/li>\n<li>Economic study of the solution and financial arrangement<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Description of the proposed solutions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The equipment that Eco-Tech Ceram has sought to recover waste heat from are the hydraulic power plant, the preheating tunnel and the firing tunnel.<\/p>\n<p>The equipment on which heat can be recovered includes plate preheating, heating of the epoxy workstation, and heating of drying and preheating zones in the paint area.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Solution 1: Savelli zone<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Visible below, it integrates a fatal heat recovery on the oil loop of the customer&#8217;s hydraulic power plant. This fluid transfers its heat to an oil\/air exchanger with a capacity of 11 kW. The fumes are sucked up by a fan common to both chimneys. The fumes give their calories to a water network and this water loop will feed different air heaters in order to homogenize the temperature at the workstation.<\/p>\n<p>Visual:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-4545\" src=\"https:\/\/ecotechceram.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/FBM1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"836\" height=\"470\"><\/p>\n<p><strong>Solution 3: The paint line<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It consists in taking over the complete insulation around the painting line by placing insulating panels on the walls.
